Our language assistant

ACADEMIC YEAR 2014-2015

My name is Debi Ruth, and I am the language assistant at IES Profesor Gonzalo Huesa this year.  I am from a small town in the county of Herefordshire in England.  I am studying at Southampton University and this is my third year.  I am also currently completing an online TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course.

This is my first year as a language assistant and so far I am really enjoying it.  When I graduate from university, I am planning to study to be a primary school teacher.

My hobbies include: baking, playing the clarinet and swimming.  To keep fit, I go running 2-3 times a week.  I love walking in the countryside and exploring new places.  At the weekends I like to go shopping and spending time with my friends.  My favourite films are Disney and romantic comedies.

I love travelling to new places but my favourite country is definitely Spain!  This is the 10th time that I have been to Spain but the first time that I have lived here.

ACADEMIC YEAR 2013-2014
Our new language assistant is Mark McMillan. Mark is from Minnesota, in the United States of America. He has a BFA in industrial design from the University of Wisconsin—Stout and
a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification. This is his third time working as a language assistant in Spain. He has previously worked in Jerez de la Frontera and Los Barrios. Last year, he was working for Benedictine nuns in a rural South Dakota town.

Mark is interested in photography, art and design, languages, music, hiking, cycling, and other outdoor activities. In the winter months in Minnesota, he sometimes enjoys downhiill and cross-country skiing, but generally prefers to find a coffee shop with free wireless internet and drink coffee.
